On my way to Moab, Oct 27th
12:09 PM, I am sitting here in the Denver International Airport awaiting my boarding for my final flight into Grand Junction, Colorado. After that it is still a several hour drive to Moab, hours of putting gear together, planning and finally racing Friday morning. Today’s journey won’t really end until sometime Saturday morning when we finish this, our final race of the year – the Checkpoint Tracker National Adventure race.
That’s fitting. This journey didn’t really start today, it began over a year ago when Jen, Mark and I raced the USARA Nationals and took third. Before the race, I knew we had the beginnings of an awesome team, afterwards – wow! With the addition of Charlie, Ronny (Odyssey Adventure Racing), and Sara we had our core team for 2010. Throughout the year we were honored to add Michelle, Robert, Eddie and Andy to our mix. We had an awesome year; lots of top finishes, a string of firsts and seconds, a slew of lessons learned and at the final race for the USARA series – enough points to win the season for the year.
We are currently in third in the CP Tracker series, and are looking forward to an awesome race. This will be the first time Charlie, Mark, Jen and I all race together – should be a lot of fun!
Boarding soon, wish us luck!
See you outside,
Shane
